My day has been one of those up then down kind of days. I know you understand.
Being Sunday, it is church day, YAY! I love my relationship with the Lord and I think it's growing. Up moment!
I mean I hope it is. Some days just feel like I am going through the motions with God. Down Moment!
Good news, it was a day spent with family regardless or perhaps in spite of ups & downs. Up Moment!
After lunch, my guys and I went letterboxing! It was perfect weather for it today! I love that we do this together. We have seen so many interesting places! We were 2 for 2 boxes today! Up Moment!
Shortly after we arrived home, the rain moved in. Not bummed though because we pulled out one of our favorite games, Whoonu! This game gives my youngest son the giggles every time!! Best sound ever! Up Moment!
One of my favorite things about Sundays -- family time -- pure and simple! Up Moment!
For me though, there were more than the clouds outside. I carried around a cloud of my own today, just overhead and it put a bit of a damper on the whole day for me. Down Moment!
As you may or may not know, awhile back my family and I were put in a position of needing to look for a new church, after our home church of 5 years disbanded. Down Moment!
After weeks of visiting different churches, we thought we had finally found a landing place. Up Moment!
Sadly, that did not end up being the case. Down Moment!
Anyway, we started the search all over again and for the last 4 months have been going to the same church. Up Moment!
There are several things I like about the church. Up Moment!
There are other things that I am just eh about. Down Moment!
Have any of you experienced this? I mean, is it normal for a teenager to suddenly lose ALL interest in going to church? I keep wondering if my son is struggling because of our personal situation or if this is just normal behavior. Let me explain.
My children only go to church with me and my hubby every other weekend because on the opposite weekends they are with their dad. That makes it really difficult for my children to get to know other kids. Especially in a mega church. Down Moment!
Next, both of my children are introverts, more so my older than younger son. My oldest son hates (his word not mine) the worship time at this church. I have thought, long and hard, about whether I let my dislike of the concert feel of worship out of the bag around him or if he came to this conclusion on his own. Down Moment!
Finally, we do not live where the boys go to school, so the chances of kids they know being at this church are slim. Down Moment!
I'm just not sure what to do. Do we put the whole thing back into upheaval mode? Do we stay put and hope for the best? Would a smaller church make a difference? I just don't know. Just a few more Down Moments!
Has anyone experienced a teenager refusing to go to church? I would love to hear if any of you have been through something similar and how you handled it. I am open to any and all ideas, thoughts, and suggestions. I'm hopeful this will all be okay. Up Moment!
Thanks for stopping by and listening to me rattle on! I'm sure glad you did!! Up Moment!
Until we meet again, be safe!

There are several things I like about the church. Up Moment!
There are other things that I am just eh about. Down Moment!
- I'm not really crazy that its a mega church. Down Moment!
- I like thinking about what that means...lots of people seeking Jesus and the Christian way of life. Up Moment!
- I like that there are lots, and I mean LOTS of things to be involved in. We have been going to a small group Bible study and the people are great! Up Moment!
- I'm not keen on the concert-y feel of the worship. It is loud and flashy and doesn't really put me in a worshipful kind of place. Down Moment!
- BUT, the one thing I really am not enjoying about our new church -- my oldest son has lost ALL interest in going to church. Total Down Moment!
