The funniest things tend to happen when I'm driving. No, more specifically, when I'm driving and my children are in the car. That seems to be when the funniest or most unexpected joys pop up.
Here, let me give you an example.
The other day, my two sons and I were putzing along (just taking our time) running errands, when my youngest pipes up with,
"Hey mom, I can make a sentence out of any word you can give me. Will you give me words?"
"Sure", I say.
Alright! Let's do this! My oldest son and I start throwing words out and my youngest starts making sentences with those words (correctly and in the proper context, I might add!! <proud mama>)!!
Well, we have been doing this for a little bit when I say,
"I have a word, are you ready?"
"I'm ready", he says.
I say, "Confession"
Without missing a beat, my little sentence making king says,
"I go to the confession stand!!"
Instantaneous laughter erupted!!!!
His sentence caught me so off guard, I almost wrecked the car and I'm not sure my oldest son could breathe!
I had tears rolling down my face, my sides and cheeks hurt!
Although he had no idea why he was laughing, my son laughed right along with us (too cute)!!
I tell him (after I can actually talk again),
"I think you meant concession, not confession.
Confession is what you do when you have done something wrong. You confess or tell someone you did it. It's like when we tell God our sins... That is confession, we tell God what we did wrong or the mistake we made.
A concession stand is where you get food. Remember the funnel cakes at the fair? That was a concession stand."
To which he replies,
Well, I think we need
Out of the mouths of babes, right?
Kids do say the darndest things, don't they?
Often wise without even realizing it!
I would love to hear what your kids have been saying!
