So, I say to myself,
"Self, what in the world have we gotten ourselves into? A blogging challenge? 30 days of writing? Seriously? Do we have time for this? Do we have enough topics to write about? What do we know about SEO, keywords, niches, HTML? Nothing, that's what we know! We have lost our minds!"
And...
When the talking stops, the wondering begins.
Wondering...
What will be expected, if I'll be able to stand up to the expectations, if I can figure this all out, wondering, wondering, wondering.
Well, after 24 hours, I am here to tell you, I am committed (no, not needing to be committed) just dedicated to completing the challenge and completing it successfully.
How, you ask?
Well I've come up with a plan of action, that's how.
First: I'm going to Keep an open mind. I'm certain there will be requests made that will be out of my comfort zone. Having said that, let's remember this is a good thing! Anything that stretches us, grows us. Keeping an open mind will allow for an open heart and an open heart listens and learns more readily.
Second: I'm going to T ake a ste p in Faith. Many things require us to step into the unknown. Guess what that requires? Yep stepping out in faith. It's scary, it's nerve racking, it's, well, unknown, but we have to believe it will be worth it. That's what faith does. Faith allows us to believe in things we can't see. This challenge is that for me. I have to have faith in the challenge's designers to know we, the challengees (is that a word? No? Well perhaps is should be ☻) are going to be nervous and apprehensive about our abilities. Faith in our ability to do great things. Faith in God's' ability to lead us through anything we come to.
Third: I'm going to Offer personal grace. Tell myself, I am going to make mistakes. They could be big. They could be small. I could have to skip a day. Either way, I am okay. Learning to see mistakes as learning tools and not a representation of who I am or a reflection of my character. Allowing mistakes to happen. Mistakes, slips, and set backs are simply tools by which I can grow and improve.
Last, but certainly not least: I'm going to Have an absolute blast. Writing is fun! Well it is for me. It has always been something that came easily, although not always correctly the first go round. Re Do's are allowed, why do you think rough drafts were created? I am going to have fun pursuing my passion of changing the world one word at a time, all while learning to improve how I write for my blog and in other areas.
So, there you have it, my four best tips for surviving a 30 day blogging challenge. I may not know all the jargon, like SEO or HTML, but I am ready and willing to learn. For me, that is half the battle! Every journey of a 1000 miles begins with the first step (Lao Tzu).
So bring on the challenge, I'm ready for my first step!
Learning to walk by Faith,
Robyn
