Who's That Girl? |

Hi, I'm Robyn, a 40 something-ish, eh-hum, working, Christian wife & mom with a passion for faith, reading, writing, frugality, simplicity, diy-ing, compassion, and love. In my world it's about trying to figure out how to walk by faith in this sometimes maddening life. It's about Loving to Live Simply & Simply Living to Love!
In December of 2012, I married my Mr. Right, Hottie Scotty! He's the hottest thing since sliced bread as far as I'm concerned! We've both been around the block before, but this time, we got it right! Together we have three boys and a girl! Scott's kids (the oldest boy & only girl) are both graduated & on their own. My kids (the middle two boys) are a sixth grader & a Junior (they're with us part-time as I share parent time with their dad). Life here is NEVER dull, to say the least!
I work really hard to live by my mantra: Loving to Live Simply & Simply Living to Love. My greatest challenge is trying to simply love people the way I am loved (sometimes, folks can make this a REALLY BIG challenge). Still, it's what I strive for and here we will find ways to do that together.
Each day is a challenge to stay between the navigational buoys, but with my family by my side, I manage.
The stories here are not always sunshine and roses. There are plenty of rain clouds and storms. It's about learning each day how to handle all sorts of weather.
One of the most painful things I have ever gone through was my two boys going to live with their dad. I would like to say at this point, it can be very easy to assume that I must have done something wrong, been addicted to something terrible, neglected them in some way, nothing could be farther from the truth.
It has taken several years for me to come to terms with not having my children living with me. It was and can still be a very painful experience. One I would not wish on my worst enemy.
There are so many things that cause us pain. So many things that throw us off track, but at Essence of a Family, we will learn to navigate all of life's joys, pleasures, and pains and learn WE ARE NOT ALONE (even when we feel we are)
I'm learning to be a wife again, learning what parenting looks like from this side of divorce, and trying to find my way as I learn to walk along with Christ. These are the reasons I choose to blog. Writing about our joys & struggles may just shine the light for you or someone who is living in darkness. I'm here to let my life light shine!
Hope you'll join me on my journey!
